Sociology Minor
Having a minor in sociology allows me to have a deeper understanding of why people act the way they do as an effort to better communicate with them. The communication and sociology fields are closely associated, which gives me a tremendous advantage in the workforce.
Sociology education and experience I have includes but is not limited to:
-
General understanding of sociology
-
Heightened existing skills regarding writing, communication, group interaction, and critical thinking
-
Sociological approaches to studying youth
-
Study of the significance of sports in contemporary society and its connection to major spheres of social life

Multicultural Certificate - Spanish
At the University of Missouri I also acquired a Multicultural Certificate in Spanish. Having the knowledge of a second language will only be a positive in the future as cultural dynamics continue to change throughout the US.
Journalism Experience
I quickly realized that communication was the field that I preferred, but I also have journalism experience from the nation’s first and best journalism school, and I understand communicating from that side of the field. I have also achieved the following through journalism:
-
Missouri J-Day Column Writing State Award Winner
-
Contributor to a Missouri State-Winning High School Magazine
Having a deep background in journalism and writing allows me to be a huge asset with story-telling and long form content.
